PREDICTIONS ON THE APPLE TABLET
Since a new year is upon us, I thought it a good time to go over some predictions of the over speculated Apple Tablet:
According to Gizmodo the Apple Tablet will be called “iSlate”
It will be announced in January, but won’t be sold until March or April
It will cost around $800
The display will be between 7-10 inches
It’s predicted to be a bigger version of the iPod touch with more functionality
The tablet will be the first device using chips that Apple’s designed in-house through PA Semi
It will have 3G capabilities
Why should we care about a touchscreen tablet? Because it will redefine the way we interact, create, and use all written literature. The Kindle and eReaders are only the first generation of gadgets in this transition from print to digital media. Just as a new medium was formed with the invention of film, a new art form will spawn from the way we use this device. Think of all the different ways people will create books and magazines with a color tablet in mind. Right now, we’re in the incubation stage on the crux of a new genre, I’m more than excited to see where technology will take us in 2010.
*If you’re interested in more on the tablet, please read Matt Buchanan of Gizmodo’s “Exhaustive Guide to Apple Tablet Rumors.”
